Security in the Middle East not only has local impacts, but also has significant global implications. One of the main issues in focus is conflict between various ethnic and religious groups. For example, the war in Syria has become a battleground for various allies and enemies, resulting in a severe humanitarian crisis and triggering a flow of refugees to neighboring countries and Europe. This issue is faced by countries like Türkiye, which hosts millions of Syrian refugees, creating social and economic challenges in the process. Apart from internal conflicts, the presence of extremist groups such as ISIS adds to instability in this region. Although ISIS has experienced a decline in power, the ideology they spread remains, and the potential resurgence of similar groups is an ongoing threat. Effective coping strategies are needed to overcome extremism ideologies that are rooted in social and economic dissatisfaction. The influence of great powers is also an important element in Middle East security. The United States and Russia, as two global powers, have conflicting strategic interests in the region. Military and political support from each country to its allies can complicate the situation, create new tensions and encourage an arms race among local countries. Economy is also no less important. Water issues, food security and natural disasters resulting from climate change could exacerbate existing tensions. International cooperation in addressing environmental issues will be critical to ensuring long-term security in the region. Finally, multilateral diplomacy is one solution. Negotiation efforts involving all parties, including non-state actors, will be critical to achieving a sustainable solution. Programs that prioritize interreligious and cultural dialogue can build tolerance and reduce tensions. Holistic crisis planning and resolution with an approach that involves all sectors of society is very important. Security and stability in the Middle East is a shared responsibility, not only of the countries in the region, but also of the international community. Sustainable development and upholding human rights must be an integral part of every policy taken to ensure a safer and more stable future.
